The Role
An opportunity has arisen to join the Forensic Hub team at Mount Browne, Surrey HQ.
The Forensic Hub Officer role provides a dedicated forensic case management service to support the investigation of all crime types across Surrey and Sussex Police.
Key Responsibilities
Working within an accredited ISO 17025 environment, you will use specialist forensic and investigative knowledge to set proportionate forensic submission strategies to assist investigations and support the policing priorities.
You will take ownership of a number of cases of differing offence types, from a forensic submission perspective - updating and maintaining auditable records of all decisions, including rationale, and results or outcomes.
You will need to develop good professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (including police officers, forensic scientists) and utilise these to ensure results for forensic examinations are delivered within required time scales and estimated costs
Skills & Experience
Educated to at least A-Level or equivalent work-related experience in a Forensic Science or Policing environment.
To be IT literate and demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Edge.
Have an understanding of how forensic evidence can contribute to the detection of crime.
Able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders and work effectively as part of a team.
Able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, in order to effectively advise and report on matters relating to forensic submissions including complex results.
Able to demonstrate the focus and drive to manage a high workload, effectively prioritise work, achieve targets and get results.
Able to demonstrate effective negotiating skills when expressing views and decisions to all levels of staff and to readily provide ideas and solutions to overcome problems.
Able to work methodically and patiently, using their own initiative, with the ability to think laterally and logically to exacting standards of accuracy and integrity.
