Division
As part of the Forensic Services Division, the Biology casework team are Forensic Scientists who undertake the examination of exhibits from scenes of crime for the presence of common body fluids (such as blood, semen and saliva).
The Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our fast paced forensic team at Eurofins Wakefield. Our Wakefield site has been hailed as leading the way with a managed forensic service approach, working in close partnership with our police forces. The role will be based in our biology casework team and will involve the examination of exhibits for blood, blood pattern analysis, semen, saliva, cellular material and contingency recovery/preservation of other evidence. The candidate will be expected to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as well as defined strategies from the Reporting Officers. Shift work, evening and weekend on-call and Bank Holiday cover will be a requirement of the role.
Key Accountabilities:
- Undertake forensic biology work for the criminal justice system with a priority focus on quality.
- Work to timescales set in the agreed framework with our customers.
- Assist the team in delivering casework and non-casework tasks during planned and un-planned abstractions to ensure that all targets are met.
- Examiners will be required to attain the skills to assist scene going scientists and carry out off-site examinations under supervision of the Reporting Officer, subject to business demands.
- To actively seek out opportunities to progress own training and development.
Knowledge, Experience and Technical Skills:
- Experience of working for a forensic provider undertaking forensic examinations (desirable).
- Keen eye for detail.
- Embraces change and an advocate of continuous improvement.
- Minimum 2 A-levels or equivalent in a scientific discipline or equivalent work experience with a forensic provider.
- Must be proactive and offer a flexible approach to work.
- Must be able to prioritise tasks, work autonomously and respond proactively to changes in business demands.
