The MSA is looking for a Food Services Manager to transform our Food Services operations into one that engages and supports the diverse food needs of Mohawk Students using sustainable and compliance-focused practices. What might this look like?
- Transforming food services from consumption to experience.

MY FOOD SERVICES TEAM
We know the importance that food security has on engaging and supporting the physical, mental, and social wellbeing of Mohawk students. The MSA Food Services team fulfils the diverse food needs of the College community using sustainable operational practices, while ensuring we connect with students through our interactions.
WHAT YOU DO
As a member of the MSA Senior Leadership Team, you lead the strategies and teams responsible for providing relevant supports, services, and engagement opportunities that foster a sense of belonging through food service outlets (franchise, non-franchise, alcohol service) and initiatives.

Primary Accountabilities:
- Leads all aspect of Food Services through sustainable operational expertise and compliance, in delivering and assessing relevant supports, services, and engagement opportunities that foster a sense of belonging through food service outlets and initiatives.
- Leads a food services team of full-time and student staff with a focus on mentoring and leadership development that ensures all staff play an integral role in the planning and execution of food service operations and initiatives.
- Develops and nurtures collaborative relationships with internal department managers and external partners to provide student-focused offerings and long-term planning aligned to the strategic plan.
HOW YOU DO IT
Leadership
- Leads the hiring, mentoring, managing, deployment and development of Full Time and Student staff.
- Conducts regular success meetings with Full Time Staff to provide a roadmap to achieving personal and team successes.
- Foster and promotes a cooperative and harmonious working environment, one that demonstrates alignment with Living the Values of the MSA.
- Represents the MSA on College and external committees.
Operations Expertise
- Oversees the Food Services outlets and initiatives that fulfil the diverse engagement, food security and wellness need of Mohawk Students (I.e., healthy menus, alcohol regulations, locally sourced food, addressing dietary / cultural needs, affordable options).
- Leads the annual plan of student-focused food services aligned to the student life cycle and MSA Strategic Priorities and Initiatives.
- Ensures connection with students through intentional interaction through value-based service excellence.
- Develops and evaluates annual Food Services operating plan aligned with the organizations’ Vision, Mission, and multi-year strategic plan, making evidence-based recommendations for change, reflecting emerging trends, which aligns with the student life cycle.
- Responsible for the overall development and management of the departmental finances and annual budget aligned with internal policies, protocols, and procedures, specifically ensuring Human Resource and Finance compliance is adhered to.
- Develops, manages, maintains, and nurtures external partnerships and third-party lease agreements, contracts, MOUs, rebate programs, etc. to enhance the Food Services provided by the MSA.
Health and Safety
Leads all Health and Safety aspects of the Food Services area, including risk management, preventative measures, maintenance and equipment issues are addressed.
- Ensure compliance of all operations with AGCO, Municipal, Public Health, and Mohawk College regulations.
- Supports the Global Risk Management of the organization.
What you Need in Education, Experience and Training for your Department:
- 5-7+ years of Food Services operations management experience
- College or University degree in Business or Hospitality Management is preferred.
- Experience with nutrition and healthy lifestyle guidance an asset.
- Advanced Food Service Training (AFST).
- Experience with franchise and non-franchise food outlets an asset.
- Expert knowledge of AGCO, Liquor License Act, Ministry of Health, and WSIB compliance.
- Exceptional knowledge of food, food hygiene and food safety preparation within governmental guidelines.
- Experience in shaping, implementing, and executing student-focused Food Services strategies within a non-profit.
- Superior employee leadership and knowledge of human resource best practices.
- Experience motivating, mentoring, and developing post-secondary employees.

- Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and complex issues.
- Strong relationship building and collaboration skills with multiple involved communities.
- Ability to discreetly manage confidential information.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Standard work hours are 35 hours per week. This may include evenings and weekends when required.
- Travel between campuses may be required.
- Able to sit for prolonged periods.
