We are a dynamic local authority providing essential services to the people of Gloucester.
Gloucester Guildhall and Blackfriars Priory have a busy year round programme of weddings and events and to enable the team to deliver its jam-packed programme, we are looking to increase our pool of casual staff to support the food and drink part of the business.
In the heart of the city, Gloucester Guildhall is a vibrant venue, home to an impressive programme of music, comedy, film, and theatre. As well as our 400-capacity main hall where we host our live music, we have a beautiful 60 seat cinema, multiple meeting and conference spaces and a bar which is always in demand with a sell-out gig. In addition to the Guildhall, we manage Blackfriars Priory - a stunning 13th century medieval Priory where we run live events and weddings year-round. The main part of this role is to serve food and drink (including alcohol) to customers visiting both venues whilst taking in the enjoyment of our lively programme. Imagine coming to work and listening to great bands for free – what’s not to love?
We are looking for casual staff who have experience of working in a bar and have knowledge of the safe sale of alcohol. With a small window of opportunity to generate income during events, you need to be confident to speak to our customers, process orders quickly and have great attention to detail when it comes to cash-handling. Working across both venues means that you need to adapt your presentation style from working a loud sell out gig at the Guildhall compared to a wedding where you will play a key role in ensuring that weddings are memorable. If you would prefer to work in just the one of our venues, they that’s also ok – both are different but just as great!
We have a busy year ahead so if you want the flexibility of working shifts to suit your own personal calendar but also keen to gain experience of working in an events industry, then we would welcome your application to join our team. We are also looking to build the wider cultural services pool of casual staff so there may be additional opportunities to work at the Museum of Gloucester, Shopmobility and front of house operational roles at Gloucester Guildhall and Blackfriars Priory.
We pay £10.79 per hour and pay holiday pay on a quarterly basis based on the number of hours you work.
