Position: Assistant Food & Beverage Manager

Department: Food & Beverage

Reports to: Food & Beverage Manager

Supervises:

F&B Outlets, Room Service

Interacts with:

Culinary, Front Office, Operations, Banquets, Sales & Marketing.

General Description:

Reporting to the F&B Manager, the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager will aid in ensuring that guests of our hotel and outlets receive above and beyond guest service and their needs are anticipated and attended to. The Assistant F&B Manager is responsible for ensuring guest services standards are met and when possible improved upon, promoting a sales orientated environment, and to ensure that all members of the F&B team are following Glenmore Inn policies and procedures while on shift.

Specific Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Lead staff on shift and ensure F&B standards are followed in a consistent professional manner
  • Display, coach and develop a “guest comes first” attitude by training and inspiring the F&B team
  • Provide consistent direction and guidance to the F&B Supervisors; coaching the importance sales, and guest service through menu knowledge improvement and situational selling techniques
  • Ensure all cost control measures are utilized on a consistent basis
  • Ensure accuracy and attention to detail while maintaining accountability for F&B operations
  • Take initiative and make quality decisions based on what is best for the guest, staff and hotel
  • Handle guest complaints and issues in a timely, and professional manner
  • To aid the F&B Manager in all aspects of the F&B department
  • To communicate pertinent information to staff and guests in a timely fashion
  • Improve and maintain a high level of professionalism throughout all the hotels F&B outlets
  • Perform all duties of a F&B Server, Host, and/or Porter as required
  • Aid in the training and review process of all staff members
  • Offer support and motivate all F&B staff members in recognition and retention
  • Aide in the coaching and when needed, progressive discipline of all F&B staff members
  • Address scheduling issues for the outlets and approve schedules prior to finalization
  • Support the Management team of the Glenmore Inn and assist in every attempt to reach and maintain hotel and departmental goals
  • Communicate with other departments in a professional manner
  • Work with the F&B Manager & the Sales team to develop and maintain outlet promotions
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the departments Standard Operating Procedures
  • Promote and hold staff accountable to our Health and Safety Program
  • Enter and submit payroll; address any payroll concerns from F&B staff members
  • Follow all hotel & departmental policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Previous restaurant supervisory experience required.
  • Hotel Management/Tourism degree or diploma an asset.
  • Proven attention to detail.
  • Must possess excellent telephone etiquette and guest service skills.
  • Strong organizational, administrative and time management skills.
  • Computer literacy; proficiency in MS Office, and P.O.S. systems required.
  • Knowledge of Micros P.M.S. an asset.
  • Pro-Serve, and ReelFacts certification required
  • CPR, First Aid, and ProTect certification an asset.
  • Proven track record of team building and facilitation of goal accomplishment.
