Barnardo's Futures has been delivering services in Leeds for over 30 years, the service provides Floating Support, Supported Lodgings and Nightstop emergency accommodation.
We are looking for As and When Floating Support Workers to join a small team that supports Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Young People (UASC) age 16-25 within supported living accommodation. All the service users are Looked After Children or Care Experienced Young People by Leeds Local Authority.
You will be based near to the City Centre of Leeds and will provide advice and support across a wide range of issues, such as accessing key services; housing, welfare benefits, health, education and employment.
You will support them to increase their independent living skills such as cleaning and cooking.
You will offer emotional support to the young people through the complexities of the asylum system.
You will work closely with partner agencies including Social Care, Housing Providers, Job Centre and other main stream providers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- To provide practical and emotional support to Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Young People
- To provide 1:1 and group activities
- To prepare the young people with the skills to successfully live independently
- To ensure all safeguarding issues are accurately recorded and reported to all relevant agencies
- To assess the needs of newly arrived service users and provide support as appropriate
- To offer trauma informed care
- To keep accurate and up to date records
- To be able to undertake shifts between the hours 9am-7pm Monday to Friday and 10am-3pm Saturday and Sunday, including bank holidays.
You Must be able to commit to work between 15 - 30 hours a week.
