We are currently seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Flight Operations Team Leader to join our talented team. Reporting to the Flight Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing a flight operations team. Your primary responsibility will be overseeing the safe and efficient execution of drone operations, including delivery, surveying, and surveillance missions. Your exceptional leadership skills, strong technical knowledge, and dedication to safety will be crucial to the success of our operations. Based at our state-of-the-art Flight Operations HQ in Aylesbury, you will have the opportunity for both domestic and international travel. As a representative of Skyports, you will get to experience diverse cultures and landscapes while supporting complex BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) operations around the world. Join us and be part of a dynamic team that is shaping the future of drone services. Responsibilities: Develop concept of operations for projects and operations around the world. Lead and manage a competent and cohesive team within flight operations, including remote pilots and ground personnel. Ensure all team members are equipped with the necessary skills, training, and resources to perform their duties effectively. Foster a culture of safety and compliance within the team, enforcing adherence to aviation regulations, company policies, and industry best practices. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support the professional growth and development of team members. Collaborate with other teams, departments, and stakeholders to optimise resource allocation, streamline operations, and achieve shared goals. Oversee flight planning activities, ensuring adherence to best practices and compliance with operational procedures and safety protocols. Monitor real-time mission progress, making necessary adjustments to ensure mission objectives are met safely and efficiently. Coordinate with project managers and stakeholders to develop operational plans, timelines, and resource requirements for each project or operation. Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to minimise operational risks and ensure safe and successful missions. Maintain accurate records, including flight logs, documentation, and incident reports, in compliance with regulatory requirements. Stay updated on industry advancements, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes, and apply this knowledge to enhance operational efficiency and safety. Requirements: Hold a valid Remote Pilot General Visual Line of Sight Certificate (GVC). Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within the aviation or UAS industry. Proficient in UAS flight operations, regulations, and best practices. Strong knowledge of emergency procedures and safety protocols. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment. Familiarity with maintenance procedures and ability to supervise maintenance activities.
