The Flight Data Analyst leads the flight data analysis and evaluation capabilities of the British Airways Group Safety & Security Management System; maximising the use of data derived from the flight data monitoring programme to provide expert examination, study, insight and intelligence to support the effective management of aviation safety risks. Enables world class safety and security risk management and cultural development.

About the role:

  • Performs quantitative and qualitative flight data analysis and evaluation activities, including trend/pattern identification, risk visualisations and control performance monitoring and measurement to support the effective management of aviation safety risks.
  • Provides regular and ad-hoc analysis, insight reports and extracts for the Aviation Safety Action Group, Corporate Safety Board and other governance meetings and groups, as required.
  • Preforms other quantitative and qualitative data analysis activities to support the effective management of risk across other safety and security domains, as required.
  • Assists with the development of the flight data monitoring system and performance monitoring and measurement visualisations, control models and metrics.
  • Leads internal engagement activities with Corporate Safety & Security, Flight Operations, Legal and the Engineering Flight Data Recording Team; ensuring the provision of data and analysis requests, as required.
  • Represents BA and IAG at internal/external forums, regulatory engagement activities and supports BA’s contribution to industry data and analytics programmes.
