Job description

We are now recruiting Workshop Shift Supervisors at Glasgow Workshop on a permanent contract, to earn over £42,000 per annum.

Salary: £39,854 per annum, a shift allowance of £78.00 per week when working the 13:30 - 22:00 shift and a weekend supplement for Saturday (£50 per attendance) and Sunday (£100 per attendance) shift attendance. Weekend working will be on a rotational basis once every 3 weeks.

About the role


Shift pattern is 3 weeks - (week 1 6:00 - 14:30, week 2 13:30 - 22:00, week 3 13:30 - 22:00)



Reporting to the Fleet Workshop Manager, the Shift Supervisor provides a pivotal supporting role to the Workshop management team. Responsible for leading operations across a shift in line with production planning and control requirements, the Supervisor will deploy agreed processes and staff resources to ensure the Workshop operates safely and delivers high levels of quality and efficiency.

As an experienced Supervisor you will have your own personal toolkit equipped to undertake routine maintenance and repair of light/heavy vehicles. Specialist tooling and equipment will be provided for common use by everyone within the workshop.

A professionally qualified motor vehicle technician, you will have previous experience of leading a team of vehicle technicians. Having worked with a diverse range of vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes – delete if not applicable you will have excellent knowledge of Health & Safety procedures as well as the ability to clearly communicate technical issues to team members.



Key Responsibilities include:



Effective stock control processes and ensuring accurate and timely completion of work orders and associated vehicle documentation to meet both business and legal requirements.

Undertaking a full range of technician duties as and when required.

First line leadership including the delivery of Weekly Team Meetings, shift huddles, involvement in the remedial approach to conduct issues and ensuring a Technicians’ wellbeing following return from sick absence.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience



Successful candidates must be fully qualified to at least advanced level (IMI Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle maintenance & repair or an equivalent qualification) and have proven (via CV) experience of working on a wide range of vehicles for example LCV/LGV.

A full manual UK driving licence is essential.
