The Fisheries Scheme Administrator role will be based at the Lymington office or a home working position.
Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)
Throughout the world, fisheries are using good management practices to safeguard jobs, secure fish stocks for the future and help to protect the marine environment. The science based MSC environmental standard for sustainable fishing offers fisheries a way to confirm sustainability using a credible, independent, third-party assessment process. It means sustainable fisheries can be recognised and rewarded in the marketplace and gives an assurance to buyers and consumers that their seafood comes from a well-managed and sustainable source.
Job Role
The general role of the Fisheries Scheme Administrator is to administer certification project activities and project planning. The role will involve liaising with a diverse range of actors from clients, stakeholders, scheme holders, accreditation bodies and other certification schemes.
Duties and responsibilities
· Assist in all forms of communications with the Scheme Holders, Accreditation bodies, relevant stakeholders, and clients in an efficient and professional manner
· Drafting template documents (contracts, letters, emails)
· Monitor shared mailboxes
· Accurate and timely maintenance of data and information on internal (SharePoint, Internal database) and external (ECert) platforms
· Scheduling and administrative assistance with audits
· Assisting with preparation and keeping of audit documentation
· Scheduling team meetings
· Assisting with internal audits
· Ensuring regular checks highlighting outstanding tasks e.g., approvals and approaching deadlines are highlighted to the Fisheries Assessment Manager and/or Scheme Coordinator/Manager
· Reporting any anomalies with the database and suggesting improvements and highlight potential development opportunities to meet with the functionality of the role
· Occasional general office administration (i.e., ordering equipment, answering phones, travel organising/bookings etc)
And any other duties that may be agreed between the post-holder and their manager.
Qualifications and Competencies
Education and Experience
- Minimum GCSE level (or equivalent) – English, Mathematics
- Practical working experience in a role requiring a large degree of organisation skills, working with the responsibility of managing their own duties on a day-to-day basis.
- Practical experience working with databases
- Administrative experience.
Skills
· Fluent in English, good knowledge of a second language is advantageous
- Attention to detail and excellent organisation skills
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, internal and external.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing workloads
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office Products
Specialised knowledge
- Desirable – knowledge and awareness of certification schemes
Mobility
- The post holder is expected to attend the Control Union (UK) office in Lymington, as required
