With our customers at the heart of everything we do we are committed to growing responsibly and as part of that growth we now have a vacancy for a First Line Manager to join us in our distribution centre situated on Cardrew Industrial Estate in Redruth, Cornwall.

Reporting to the DC1 Shift Manager, the First Line Manager (FLM) will be responsible for ensuring our DC teams effectively carry out and meet Logistics objectives daily.


Responsibilities in this role include creating a culture of attendance, inclusivity, and outstanding performance, as well as taking accountability for wages spend and agency budgets.

We expect our FLMs to lead by example, upholding Seasalt values in every aspect of their role and working collaboratively with other FLMs and Team Managers across all Logistics functions to meet common goals.

Please note this is a permanent position on our AM shift, working 05:30-14:00 between Tuesday- Saturday.

You'll help us by;

  • Successfully managing shifts, ensuring the effective running of all processes within the DC, ensuring that all aspects of health and safety requirements, quality requirements, and productivity levels are met
  • Acting as a key point of contact in communication with the administration, stock and management teams to resolve problems or issues that have been identified within the warehouse
  • Taking ownership of people issues and striving to resolve these by following policy and procedure to minimise the risk of formal escalation, engaging with HR when necessary
  • Leading a diverse range of people to effectively accomplish operational and functional goals through coaching and leadership
  • Managing the allocation of work on a day-to-day basis ensuring all channels operationally are achieved and delivery targets are met
  • Preparing and completing shift handover documents fully and distributing data captured on tracking documents for the next shift to ensure seamless shift transition operational continuation
  • Coordinating resource planning within own team, managing budget to ensure there is no overspend of wages or agency usage
  • Shaping a culture of inclusivity and high performance, spotting talent and developing potential in a fair and transparent manner
  • Consistently striving for improvement both in people and processes, ensuring teams understand best practice in a fast-paced environment
  • Holding effective 121s with every member of your team, on a monthly basis, that drive performance, engagement and have a focus on employee wellbeing
  • Reporting on all aspects of the operation including KPI and hour management, H&S, Labour, Planning, and regular daily updates ensuring a smooth and efficient handover to the following shift
  • Effectively resolving issues including resolution and escalation, maintaining highly professional standards of communication and conduct
  • Deputising for the DC Shift Manager when required, having flexibility to cover the management of other Logistics functions when asked to do so (e.g eBay, Intake)

An experienced warehouse team manager with a proven track record of driving performance, attendance, and inclusivity, you’ll have excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organisation skills.

With the confidence to handle difficult conversations, you’ll tackle people issues as soon as they arise and prioritise managing attendance and performance. You will be experienced in recruitment practices, including managing own headcount along with agency and recruitment budgets.
