Job Description
Rely on Fire Check have secured a contract with a national client, and as such we are recruiting for 7 regional Fire Systems Design & Verification Consultants to work in the capacity of designer, auditor, checking consultant for electro-technical fire safety systems, namely fire detection & fire alarm systems, voice alarm systems, emergency voice communication systems, evacuation alert systems and emergency lighting systems.
Main Duties
- Producing detailed system design(s)
- Producing associated documentation to support system design e.g., specification documentation, technical submissions, and drawings with the support of an AutoCAD Drawing & Document Technician
- Site-based auditing and checking consultancy
- Producing detailed reports to document findings of technical audits
- Provide technical support to clients
- Attend and where required chair internal and external meetings
- Deliver presentations and training to external stakeholders
- Using the company internal ICT systems for task management
- Maintaining technical competency (CPD)
Required Skills
- Recognised industry training and experience
- Excellent technical ability
- Demonstratable experience in the design of complex systems
- Detailed understanding of BS 5839-1, BS 5839-6, BS 5839-8, BS 5839-9, BS 5266 and normative references e.g. BS 7273-4, BS 7273-6, BS 6266, Health Care Technical Codes.
- Ability to source information from industry standards and codes of practice
- Competent with Microsoft Windows
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Attention to detail, well presented, personable and excellent communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Good time management
- Full UK driving licence
- Satisfactory outcome of Disclosure & Barring Service check

Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have exceptional technical understanding of electrotechnical fire safety systems i.e., fire detection & fire alarm systems, emergency voice communication systems, voice alarm systems and emergency lighting systems with a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a senior system design and or senior engineering management role for a BAFE SP203-1 Scheme certificated organisation.
You will understand electrotechnical fire safety system compliance across all work activity modules of design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and verification in accordance with standards and industry codes of practice. You will understand the importance of working to process and procedure and having excellent written English communication skills you will have an ability to correctly complete reports, checklists, and certificates of compliance.
You will be prepared to undergo training to meet the ongoing requirements of this role. Full training will be provided for exceptional candidates who may require additional skills to perform this role.
You'll be a problem solver who is able to work both in a team and independently whilst not being afraid to identify and communicate non-conformance and deal with matters of technical conflict. As an experienced consulting engineer you will have exceptional analytical skills and an ability to identify and rectify problems before they occur.
You will provide excellent customer service to exceed the expectations and requirements of both internal and external customers, establishing and maintaining effective relationships with customers.
You must be prepared to travel and work away from home to meet the requirements of the business. You will be able to manage your time efficiently so that jobs are prioritised correctly and delivered on time.
