We are seeking two Fire, Health and Safety (FHS) Advisors to work with the Commercial or Services functions at our airport. Helping colleagues and third parties to identify and manage risks, track and review safety performance and continuously improve.
In these exciting and varied roles, you will report to a FHS Business Partner and be accountable for delivering Health & Safety advice and assurance across either Commercial (Including Retail, Property, Surface Access (including Heathrow Express) and office-based colleagues) or our Services function (third party providers). Building effective relationships with stakeholders, including contractors and business partners as well as the wider Fire, Health, Safety and Wellbeing Team will be key to your success. You’ll also get involved in the delivery of improvement projects, all whilst developing your Health and Safety career in this dynamic safety environment. - Coaching on best practise regarding identifying, conducting, and reviewing risk assessments, providing expert advice, supporting and coaching to ensure appropriate accident and close call investigation and overseeing the quality and close out of investigations
- Using your relationship-building and influencing skills to promote the delivery and adoption of Heathrow’s safety management system in your business area including the understanding and implementation of Standards across a wide range of risks
- Encouraging the function to ensure a safety culture is maintained and where possible improved upon, to allow our safety procedures and responses to be the very best they can be. Alongside the development and implementation of Safety Improvement Plans (SIP)
- Assisting stakeholders with defining the health and safety accountabilities for all roles, defining the resources needed to conduct incident investigations and identifying training needs to enhance knowledge where necessary. And then being able to provide technical advice in relation to more complex technical enquiries
- Assisting with Health and Safety assurance processes; driving the delivery of actions identified, escalating where action is delayed and providing advice on how to achieve compliance with fire, health and safety standards
- Providing reliable analysis of data to identify areas for improvement and then coach stakeholders to ensure they drive the delivery of those improvements. Also using such data to provide performance reports and Lessons Learned documents
- Safety Professional specifically within a 24/7, high-volume footfall environment, e.g. transport, manufacturing
- National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
- Experience of internal assurance against defined standards to identify meaningful improvements.
- Good communication and influencing skills across all levels of the organisation, ability to build meaningful relationships, including effective stakeholder management within a multi-hazard environment
- Sound analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data in a meaningful way.
- Practical knowledge of running incident and accident investigations and complex risk assessments.
Ideally you also have:
- National Certificate in Fire Safety (or equivalent)
- Holding or working towards the National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent)
- Relevant H&S experience for the specific roles available

Working Location
Our agile approach offers the opportunity to combine home working with meetings, events and training at the airport. All roles involve some on-site working each week, so you’ll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
