The Dudley Group are looking for an AAT level 2 or 3 apprentice to join its Financial Services Department within the Finance Directorate.
Please note :
1. If you are more than AAT Level 3 Qualified in Finance and Accountancy, then your application can’t be considered as you are unable to complete AAT level 2 or 3, which is an essential part of this apprenticeship scheme.
2. This apprenticeship shall be deemed as the first year of the post holder’s apprenticeship scheme.
Dudley Group is looking for committed individual who really want to kick-start a career in finance and accountancy. The apprentice will be required to complete the initial levels of the Association of Accountancy Technicians (AAT) Qualification. (Level 2 or 3)
There will be full support and the post holder will gain invaluable experience of working in a very large, professional, committed, successful Finance Department.
This opportunity will provide a strong stepping stone for further career Job opportunities and development, whether this is to gain a further position at the trust or move to another post. Either can lead to completion of the AAT qualification or further develop into taking and completing a Chartered Accountancy Qualification.
This apprenticeship can lead the post holder onto our Apprentice to Band 4 development programme. This could mean the post holder progresses from an Apprentice to an Admin and Clerical Band 4 Assistant Financial Accountant within a few years.
As a member of the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust Finance team, you will assist in the day-to-day operational work of the Financial Services Department.
To gain knowledge and experience of the functions within the department and the overall finance team.
To be responsible for supporting a range of finance administration and business functions.
Develop key experience in a finance function that supports external accountancy courses and qualifications.

Note: This job description describes the role that an apprentice will be working towards during the training period.
Supervision and support (direct and indirect) will be provided or available during all tasks, with progression being dependent on the completion of set objectives throughout the apprenticeship period. This will enable the apprentice to work within the Finance teams to gain confidence, experience and build a portfolio of evidence for apprenticeship accreditation.
- To deal with telephone enquiries ensuring all messages are passed to the finance staff in a timely manner.
- To maintain up to date filing systems both manual and computerised.
- To deal with all incoming/outgoing post, ensuring it is dealt with in a timely manner.
- Maintain electronic diaries/calendars for other members of staff.
- Use of general office equipment e.g. photocopier, scanner, shredder, printer.
- Use and create finance spreadsheets to a good standard.
- Support the three sections within the department in updating and maintaining financial systems.
- Updating spreadsheet and database systems for monthly routines.
- Complete monthly finance duties
- Use the purchase, sales, cash management, asset, and general ledgers of the finance system to complete finance queries for the team.
- To communicate with other members of staff, colleagues and service users across the Trust relevant to the role e.g. verbal, electronically, telephone
- Use IT systems to produce e-mails, letters, documents, reports and presentation
