Financial Investigation Supervisor - South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU) Exeter, England

Avon and Somerset Constabulary
Full Time Exeter, England 36177 - 38856 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Location: Alternative locations can be negotiated with the hiring manager if successful. Remote working will be considered although some more sensitive aspects of the work will require attendance in person at any given location. Regular attendance at the Northern Operating hub will be required to support the staff.

The South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU) is looking for a Financial Investigator Supervisor keen to progress their careers as part of our Regional Economic Crime Unit.

The Regional Economic Crime Unit (RECU) uses financial investigation techniques to disrupt serious and organised criminals that are based in South West England. In partnership with other law enforcement agencies and government departments from the UK and abroad it works to bring criminal prosecutions and regulatory disruption and use the Proceeds of Crime Act to deny criminals the profits from their offending through confiscation and forfeiture. An opportunity has arisen for a fully accredited financial investigator to take a role as Financial Investigation Supervisor within the RECU.

You will supervise Financial Investigators and ensure work submitted for court proceedings meets the required standard. You will monitor FISS CPD compliance across the team, and support and develop trainee staff to achieve and maintain accreditation in PIP1, financial investigation and confiscation.

You will be the case officer for some more complex cases and supervise the conduct of other investigations by the FI’s. These will primarily be investigations under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, and may include criminal money laundering, asset forfeiture and confiscation, confiscation enforcement, and Civil Recovery at the High Court. It will involve presenting case material including financial statements and attending court if necessary.

You will work in conjunction with Senior Investigating Officers and the Crown Prosecution Service to set and manage financial investigation strategies for investigations being conducted by the wider Regional Organised Crime Unit.

SWROCU is part of the national ROCU network who work hand in hand with local forces and national partners to target and disrupt criminals posing the greatest risk of Serious and Organised Criminality (SOC). This includes offenders involved in cyber threats, economic crime, drug conspiracies, modern slavery and human trafficking and child sexual abuse and exploitation. SWROCU seeks to lead and support the region working with the forces and national leads to promote consistency and use of best practice and technology.

SWROCU is a great place to work in a job like no other, working alongside other specialist capabilities at a regional, national and international level. You will be at the forefront of the fight against serious and organised crime, which is one of the greatest threats facing the UK today.

It’s an exciting time to join us. We’re strengthening our officer numbers and we continually invest in both our people and new technology, so that as serious and organised crime evolves, so too do our skills and capabilities. In order to achieve this we need the best people who are keen to develop their careers and unleash their full potential.

Police Officers and Police Staff in one of our five regional forces can find out more about SWROCU on our dedicated microsite at www.southwestrocu.police.uk
