SCIB is looking for a Sanctions Advisor reporting into the Global Head of SCIB Sanctions, based in our London office .
This role resides within Santander London Branch (Non-Ring-Fenced branch of Santander Corporate Investment Bank in the UK).
The difference you’ll make
Supporting the Global Head of Sanctions CIB to implement and maintain effective CIB sanctions risk framework, this includes management of Policy escalations between the First Line of Defence and Global Sanctions.
Working with the First Line of Defence and other relevant Group stakeholders to identify, control and assess financial crime risk in the vertical CIB lines of business (i.e. Markets, Global Transactional Banking and Private Side Advisory), as well as support the design of the overall control framework and manuals.
Delivering complex advisory support to stakeholders and have oversight of policy and regulatory requirements (including issue management) are fully understood and met on an ongoing basis in all business activities and in line with Group risk appetite.
Supporting the Global Head of Sanctions CIB to drive regulatory change and operational effectiveness of the Group Financial Crime Risk Framework by acting as the Second Line advisory and oversight over the control framework.
Assisting with the timely identification of opportunities to enhance the management and oversight of Financial Crime risk, and ensuring appropriate action is taken by relevant parties to deliver improvements.
What you’ll bring
A professional Sanctions compliance expert with expertise in a CIB environment.
Strong understanding of the impact of recent changes in the sanctions landscape and it’s read across to Sanctions controls.
It would also be nice for you to have
Managerial level ICA qualification would be preferred but not mandatory.
Proven leadership capabilities and experience in the build out of a Financial Crime advisory function.

This is a fulltime permanent position based from Triton Square London, with flexibility for hybrid working

We put 8% of salary into your pension, even if you don’t contribute yourself. We’ll pay in up to 12.5% of salary, if you contribute as well, and you can take some of our contribution in cash if you prefer
30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, which increases to 31 days after 5yrs service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year
