Position Summary:
The Financial Controller will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the accounting department for Marlin UK, including the preparation and management of the serviced apartments, budgets, payroll, implementing and overseeing all activities relating to the financial aspects of the Serviced Apartments in compliance with tax laws and the Company SOPs.
Additionally, responsible for the financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit and control, asset and liability reconciliation and cash control, as well as ensuring the safekeeping and updating of all legal documentation relating to the financial status of the Apartments. This is a hands-on financial position requiring flexibility and an ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Financial Controller Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparation of monthly management accounts including Profit and Loss Account, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow, and weekly financial reports including forecasting of profits, cash and payroll.
- Management of Income Audit, Payroll, Cash/Bank Control, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable.
- Work closely with wider hotel team to ensure a functional understanding of departmental financial reporting and other metrics.
- Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with key employees
- Assess the benefits of all prospective spends and contracts and advise the general manager and Owners on programme design and implementation matters. To the extent such proposals involve CapEX activity, legal, financial, and other advisors as appropriate.
- Responsible for the Property's overall accounting and financial management.
- Responsible to support and liaise with the General Manager, Managing Director, and Owners in meeting the strategic goals of the organization.
- Responsible for preparing and reviewing annual budgets, monthly P&Ls, balance ledgers.
- Responsible for verifying all financial reports and ensuring that all transactions are accurate and in compliance with local regulations.
- Able to effectively implement all accounting policies and procedures.
- Able to ensure a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets.
- Able to proactively assist with cost control requirements and revenue enhancement possibilities.
- Managing and building the finance function and team.
- Monitors all local tax compliance that applies, and ensuring that taxes are charged correctly and collected.
- Any other tasks as and when required by the management.
Prerequisites:
- Able to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish the work.
- Should have a high command of Excel, etc.
- Knowledge of accounting systems like AccountsIQ, Sage, etc.
- Knowledge of Hotel Software or Property Management Systems like OPERA, Hotsoft Etc.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Must be personable and well able to deal with guests and staff.
- Must possess excellent financial knowledge, analytical skills and be very well organized.
- Willingness to work as an overall team member to help ensure continued growth and success of the Group

Salary: Up to £65,000.00 per year
