Division/Group Summary:
The Microbiology Division (MBD) helps Thermo Fisher achieve its Mission by enabling human health care. We innovate with purpose, and we are focused on improving clinicians’ abilities to diagnose infection and enabling labs to increase productivity with informed decision-making, better care, and faster answers at every point along the individual’s health care journey.
Working within Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Speciality Diagnostic Group, within the Microbiology Division (MBD). We’re looking for somebody who wants to continue building a strong financial career within a global organization that enables individuals to reach their best through continuous challenges and expansive opportunities. Working within a team of experienced finance professionals, you’ll be helping a business that is dedicated to delivering quality products that help society.
What will you do?
- Provide Financial Support and Business Partnering to the Operations, Supply Chain, Sourcing Management and Quality functions helping to shape practices and strategies to add value and maintain cost effectiveness.
- Overview of all fixed asset accounting for the Manufacturing sites, including business partnering with the project teams and Global Business Services (GBS).
- Operations accounting including overview of utility usage, accruals, and cost center reviews.
- The preparation of the MBD Quality reporting & bridge commentary for Basingstoke & EMEA Diagnostic sites.
- Analyze weekly, monthly and quarterly performance, with particular focus on KPIs and variance analysis against Plan, forecast, Prior Quarter & Prior Year
- Track site productivity and drive continuous process improvements.
- Support the preparation of the MBD financial and operational reporting & bridge commentary.
- Participate in the annual budgets (AOP) and monthly forecasts for Operations and Quality.
- Work with MBD UK shared service and external auditors with regard to the operational sites.
- Drive continuous process improvement within the finance function.
- Ad hoc projects and support operations team as required.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Clear communication skills, written and verbal, including the ability to effectively communicate with non-finance colleagues.
- Is disciplined in approach to quality, attention to detail and is focused on delivery.
- Knowledge of P&L within a manufacturing environment.
- Working towards a professional accountancy qualification (CIMA or ACCA).
- Advanced user of MS Office Suite - Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Desire for career advancement within Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Preferred Experience:
- CIMA Studier.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of SAP business system.
- Experience of Hyperion Financial Management tools.
