What can I expect to do in this role?
You will:- coordinate and provide financial planning and analysis expertise to support and implement the branch business plan and broad resource management controllership functions
- develop, support and maintain financial and other resource management systems and control processes and conduct related analytical assignments
- conducts analysis, anticipates issues, discusses trends and provides advice, solutions, and recommendation to management
- coordinates and prepares the branch's input to corporate strategic initiatives, program reviews, and business planning, financial and statistical reporting matters
Please note: Attendance at the Toronto or St. Catharines office locations below, will be required in alignment with OPS' current hybrid work model.
How do I qualify?
Financial Management Knowledge and Expertise:
- You have demonstrated knowledge of financial and accounting principles, policies, procedures, and practices pertaining to financial planning, analysis, management, budgetary control processes and modern controllership principles.
- You have knowledge of public and private financial administrative control systems, asset capitalization process, expenditure/capitalization analysis, financial issues and spending trends, in-year pressures, in order to coordinate responses to corporate strategic initiatives and financial reporting.
- You can support the tracking and issuing of allocations, provide advice to all levels on financial management and expenditure control issues, provide risk assessments on key issues, develop strategies for funding optimization and ensure ministry and central agency requirements are met.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
- You have effective analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- You can assess financial data/trends, anticipate issues, provide risk assessments, identify program issues, and develop funding resolution options and strategies to complex financial and financial policy matters.
- You can resolve conflicting priorities, research, and recommend controllership and financial operational policies, and control processes and work within establish timeframes and constraints.
Project Management, Organizational and Computer Skills:
- You have knowledge of project management methods and techniques.
- You have demonstrated planning and organizational skills to plan and prioritize project activities.
- You have demonstrated knowledge and experience using financial systems and control processes.
- You are proficient with computer operation, software applications and databases to prepare reports and presentations and manage financial information.
Relationship Management and Communication Skills:
- You have strong communication skills and can provide technical support, financial advice, and prepare presentations, financial reports, submissions, and issues notes.
- You have consultation and relationship management skills to gain acceptance of resolution options and strategies and facilitate effective communication with internal/external contacts.
- You can develop and maintain relationships provide senior level advice to staff/management and prepare presentations, reports, submissions, and briefing notes.
