Job Description & Responsibilities:


The Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of a company's operations and processes. Their duties include:

  • Evaluating and improving business processes, systems, and practices to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Collecting and analyzing financial and investment data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Developing and implementing performance metrics to measure success.
  • Creating financial models and forecasting future performance.
  • Develop and implement process improvements and automation solutions.
  • Monitor key financial performance indicators and develop reports to track progress.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve operational issues.
  • Conduct data analysis to inform decision making and support strategic planning.
  • Develop and manage budgets and forecast future business performance.
  • Identify and manage investment project risks, develop contingency plans, and ensure project delivery within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Assists with month-end reporting and develops the monthly reporting package to the Board.
  • Leads and/or assists in the rollout of new products.
  • Develops methodologies to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial risk management.
  • Review the credit union’s daily financial situation (i.e., Liquidity, capital, FX exposure and investments, rates within the Deposit Broker Channel etc…)
  • Develop and maintain financial models (Budgets & Forecasts). Contributes to the credit union’s annual budget, long term plan and financial plan.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:


  • Ability to collect, analyze and interpret large amounts of financial data to identify trends and make informed recommendations.
  • Project management skills, with ability to plan, execute and manage projects from start to finish.
  • Ability to create financial models and perform financial analysis to support decision making.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in the use of data visualization and analysis tools, such as Excel, SQL, Tableau and Power BI.
  • Ability to think creatively and critically about business operations and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Profound knowledge of business analysis, project delivery practices and standards across the project life cycle
  • Excellent analytics skills and independently perform tasks from beginning to end.
  • Ability to pick up multiple business processes, systems development tools and techniques such as process/data modelling.

Qualifications


  • Diploma in Information Technology, Business Administration/Management or the equivalent combined with directly related experience in systems development projects, tools, and techniques.
  • 2+ years’ working within a financial institution / financial services sector.
