Job description
At Lakeshore, we create innovative learning materials and world-class guest experiences for teachers, parents and children. Since 1954, we’ve grown into a global community—with a thriving e-commerce business, multiple catalogs, 60+ retail stores, a peerless national sales force, plus international offices that support our preeminent supply chain division. But today we’re working better, smarter and faster than ever—and setting our sights even higher. We’re building an infrastructure designed for scalability, embracing data-driven decision-making and using technology to improve efficiency and ensure the best tools for the best work. Collaborative teamwork and relationship-building skills are vital for success in this role. Additionally, a forward-thinking mindset is required to align financial analysis and forecasting with long-term organizational goals and market trends. And we’re here to help you succeed—Lakeshore recently earned its Great Place to Work® Certification™ and is proud to put its associates first.
A day in the office looks like this:
- Drive the financial planning and analysis function by taking ownership of budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis processes, providing critical insights for strategic decision-making
- Establish strong working relationships with business unit leaders to align the annual budgeting process with strategic objectives and operational plans
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives, providing financial expertise and analysis during project planning and execution
- Develop key performance indicators, prepare comprehensive financial reports and variance analyses, and analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, risks and opportunities
- Identify opportunities for process optimization within the FP&A function, learning and leveraging automation tools and advanced technologies to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency
Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
- Five or more years of experience in an analytical function (in accounting/finance a plus)
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and executive leaders
- Strong intellectual curiosity to continuously learn and improve on current processes
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite; knowledge of Alteryx, SAP or automation tools a plus
