Job description
Major Government Finance Analyst

- Finance Lead supporting Major Government Managed Contracts– driving profitable change for the short, medium, and long term
- Ownership of contract reporting with responsibility for; month end procedures reporting for P&L and balance sheet, driving cost transformation initiatives to maximise bottom line, supporting business managers on pricing/ change controls
- Focus on the following key areas: Planning, Budgeting, Cost Transformation, Process Improvements, Reporting, Financial Controls and Risk Management
- Responsible for maintaining accounts and preparing financial statements in accordance with accounting standards. To maintain financial integrity at all times and being able to support balances and identify risks and opportunities
- Lead, support and provide analysis to assist projects linked to the delivery of the BRF and MTP, including managing the governance for Capex investment and approval
- Ensure SOX compliance and strong governance
- Lead on managing and improving cash collection/ outstanding debt reduction
- Professional Accountancy Qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA etc)
- SAP experience is desirable
- Excellent analytical skills and strong commercial awareness
- Robust spreadsheet skills (Excel)
- Ability to work independently

- Strong stakeholder management; the ability to manage a range of stakeholders both internally and externally up to and including finance director level, and the resilience to challenge them
- Ability to identify and evaluate commercial and financial risk, and to take steps to mitigate risks and/ or to drive value add
- Demonstrate creative thinking and innovation with an ability to convey the complex in a simple and meaningful manner
- Constantly challenging the status quo; continually seeks out best practice with regards to financial reporting policy and practice, ensuring consistent accounting policy and treatment
