Financial Analyst – Financial Controls

The Abacus Careers team are exclusively supporting The Bank of London to appoint the most talented professionals from the local marketplace as they build their new Belfast based ‘UK Centre of Excellence’. The Bank of London now require a Financial Analyst within their Financial Controls team to come on board.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join our finance team and work with the leadership teams to support, guide and manage financial activities and deliverables. The role involves a high level of partnering across the business. This is an excellent role for a candidate who has strong technical knowledge, finance skills and experience working in a busy, fast paced and wide-ranging role.

Great opportunity for someone coming out of their training contract, or 1 year PQE to join a new and market disrupting firm that will revolutionise the banking and financial services markets.


WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You will play a key role in the Group’s internal and external financial reporting activities to ensure the highest possible standards. This is an exciting opportunity for a Finance Analyst to join the team reporting into the Finance Director. This role requires strong technical skills.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accountabilities – Assist the Finance Director with:

  • Day-to-day accounting for the UK Bank
  • Preparing financial accounts in line with International GAAP, regulatory frameworks and Group policies
  • Controlling and reconciling operational cash balances and flows
  • Preparing technical arguments with regard to Financial Reporting Standards and their application to the business
  • Ensuring the Finance control environment is fit for purpose
  • Ensuring timely payment of accounts payable and timely receipt of accounts receivable balances
  • Manage various external relationships – auditors, tax specialists, professional services firms

WHAT YOU BRING

The ability to analyse, appraise and improve all systems and processes within a financial control environment

  • Confident in dealing with senior colleagues in the organisation
  • Proven ability to deliver to deadlines with excellent communication skills written and verbal
  • Strong technical skills including robust accounts production skills gained through experience in financial control
  • Strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Deep accounting expertise gained through experience and recently attained Chartered/Certified accounting qualification
  • Experience within a UK regulated institution and knowledge of FCA/PRA reporting would be a plus
