Role Overview:
Reporting into the Corporate Accounting Manager, this is a fantastic role suited for a part qualified accountant with previous finance experience. Focused on the accounting for overheads and IT cost centres. Reconciling monthly intra and intercompany balances and liaising with counterparts across other SIE entities to resolve differences.
What you'll be doing:
Financial Accounting related tasks:
- Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying and entering transactions.
- Preparation of monthly Central Overhead, R&D and IT Cost Centers, reports of actuals and commitments versus budget/forecast and review reports with budget holders.
- Perform GL coding reviews of key P&L accounts, training the wider team on best practice.
- Prepare month end reconciliations of accruals, prepayments, recharges and fixed assets.
- Prepare all recharges for month end prior to month end close and ensuring that the recharge account is reconciled fully monthly.
- Review and approve Overhead Purchase Requisitions on behalf of Finance, ensuring accuracy and adherence to purchasing principles.
- Support Accounts Payable team with Overhead specific queries
- Assist business users with SAP related issues.
- Provide GTO with relevant tax information with regards to overhead costs
- Assist Internal audit, SOX audit and External audit teams with general ledger data requests and ensure all requested data is accurate and provided to requested timelines.
- Ensure National Statistics questionnaires are completed to required timelines.
- Ensure all inter-company accounts are fully reconciled and agreed at each period end.
- Support month-end close and reporting pack and assist Corporate Accounting Manager and Financial Controller where necessary.
- Actively seek to implement continuous improvement in area of responsibility.
- Ad Hoc Requests as required.
Planning related tasks:
- Produce monthly cost center reports and liaise with budget holders/finance business partners on key variances.
- Work closely with each department Finance business partners to review and amend cost center forecasts and budgets.
What we're looking for:
- Studying towards finance qualification (ACCA/ACA/CIMA)
- At least 2 years' experience working within a finance team of large multinational organisation.
- Previous experience of project accounting and managing large project budgets (preferred)
- Systems literate – with experience of SAP and Business Warehouse preferable.
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Proven experience of contributing to a controlled and well-ordered financial close
- Ability to work within a time pressured environment and to strict deadlines.
- Strong time-management and organisational skills
- Good communication skills
- Experience of working closely with non-finance business stakeholders and ability to build effective working relationships across the organisation (preferred)
- A proactive and conscientious working attitude, as well as ability to use initiative.
- Accuracy and attention to detail to ensure accurate reporting.
