Job Summary:
Company: Academy Music Group
Location: Brixton, London (minimum 4 days per week in the office)
Reports to: Financial Controller
Working hours: Permanent, full time, 40 hours per week
Role
The Financial Accountant plays an important part in the day-to-day running and management of the Finance department of Academy Music Group. Requiring a high level of attention to detail, the role supports the Financial Controller in reviewing Accounts Assistants’ work, ensuring accurate posting of transactions within accounts, timely production of reconciliations, and that any issues within accounts are dealt with appropriately and promptly. In addition to this, the Financial Accountant reconciles VAT and prepares VAT returns for payment and is responsible for keeping the Balance Sheet in good order, as well as implementing SOX compliance measures.
Our Team
The team comprises approximately 18 individuals with a wealth of experience working within Academy Music Group/Live Nation and other organisations.
This role is a senior position within the team, directly line managing the Accounts Assistants, carrying a weight of responsibility for ensuring that the Accounts Assistants’ reconciliations are accurate and in good order.
Competencies / Skills / Knowledge / Experience
Essential:
- ACCA/CIMA/ACA, finalist/newly qualified, or by experience
- Some prior people management experience
- Computer Literacy – Excel, Outlook
- Strong administration and time management skills
Desirable:
- SOX experience
- Good working knowledge of debits and credits
- Experience using Oracle
- VAT experience/knowledge
- FEU experience/knowledge desirable

What the Role Involves
- Management of around 10 Accounts Assistants, including training, professional development, performance reviews
- Review of Accounts Assistants’ reconciliations
- Ownership of VAT process and controls
- Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Month End Balance Sheet reporting
- Intercompany reconciliation
- Implementing SOX compliance measures and reviewing procedures
- Compiling and advising of year-end audit files
- Ad-hoc analysis and tasks
