Please Note: This finance trainee will be recruited in management accounting.
The London Ambulance Service Finance Trainee Accountant will be accountable to the Senior Financial Accountant or the Finance Manager for delivering the financial or management accounts services for the London Ambulance Service. This will include a variety of tasks such as account reconciliations, accounts receivable, and accounts payable work as required as well as budget holder meetings, completing journals and
producing management information.
- To work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and maintain communication networks
- To produce financial information in accordance with strict timetables and short deadlines.
- Responsible for ensuring that financial transactions are undertaken in accordance with Standing Financial Instructions and Standing Orders.
- To provide high quality financial and performance information and advice to managers.
- The post holder will work flexibly across other areas of Finance in accordance with the trust’s needs during the duration of their training.
- Responsibility for the preparation and uploading of monthly journals, both permanent and reversing. Ensuring that such journals have adequate supporting information.
- Responsibility for investigating expenditure variances to budget reported on the ledger and instigating corrective action.
- Responsible for resolving queries as identified by budget holders.
- Responsibility for uploading budget journals and for actioning agreed budget requirements.
- Responsibility for ensuring payroll details are correct and uploading the monthly payroll onto the ledger.
- Aid in the evaluation of cost pressures and assist in deciding corrective action with appropriate Senior Finance Staff/ Budget holders
- Set up and design reports for monthly budget reports, ensuring the organisations hierarchy is kept intact.
- Set up new statements for budget holders, ensuring all appropriate areas in the general ledger are updated.
- Maintain and update establishment information on a monthly basis

- This post qualifies for 100% funding support under the Trust’s training programme towards CIMA or ACCA accredited finance qualification and continued employment will be dependent on exam and work performance.
- The training scheme gives study leave in addition to annual leave of up to 4 days per exam paper per annum by agreement with your line manager.
