About the Role
Finance is a corporate service which is fundamental to the effective running of the Council. Our team are currently seeking two Finance Officers to join us. The Finance Officer will be central to ensuring an efficient service that supports the Council in making informed financial management decisions and meeting its statutory function in delivering a balanced budget.
Maidstone also has a clear strategic plan to 2045. Supporting the budget holders in managing their budgets in a tight fiscal environment and one where the demands on Maidstone are ever changing. A challenge for finance, but one we strive hard to deliver, and we hope you want to help us do that.
The post is career graded which will give the opportunity to gain experience of working in the area and developing your skills and knowledge. The post will work under the supervision of the Senior Finance Manager who will support your development and technical skills.
The post requires strong working relationships to be developed and maintained with the finance team, service users including budget holders.

About You:
You will be a qualified Accounting Technician (or have the equivalent experience) with the ambition to develop your professional skills further as we are willing to support further studying for full accountancy qualifications.
You will be a team player with experience of working in a local government finance environment.
Additionally, you will have excellent time management, problem-solving and IT skills.
We do encourage hybrid working but to facilitate working better as a team you will be expected to attend the office for a minimum one day each week.
