We are looking for a Finance Officer to join the Chief Accountant's team. Someone who can communicate well, be proactive and assist in technical and operational projects. About us Oxfordshire County Council comprises 63 county councillors elected every four years. County councillors are democratically accountable to the residents of their electoral division. The overriding duty of county councillors is to the whole community of Oxfordshire, but they have a special duty to their constituents, including those who did not vote for them. This opportunity is to join a large Finance Team that is well respected across the Council and takes great pride in delivering an effective financial strategy, that is supporting innovation & creativity, and driving effective financial management. The Chief Accountant Team has a focus on Financial Reporting for Capital and Revenue expenditure. The main annual reporting is the Statement of Accounts About the role This Finance Officer role will provide key support to the Chief Accountant, the immediate Team and the wider Finance Team on a variety of tasks and projects. You will work alongside two other Finance Officers and report into the Chief Accountant. Your work will follow several key strands outlined in the job description. The main two are completing organisational financial returns as well as contributing to the completion and audit of the Statutory Accounts. There is also key work on liaison with our Tax & VAT Advisors and assisting where necessary with queries. About you You will be a person who likes the attention to detail of completing financial returns. Being highly effective using Microsoft Excel will be a great advantage. We are also on a learning journey - so we want to critically appraise how we go about tasks and look to make efficiencies as well as documenting what we do. You will be able to demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team and on your own. You will be able to show an ability to develop relationships across a range of 'customers' across the Council.
