Main Responsibilities
Principal accountabilities:
Purchase /Sales ledger/Procurement
- To reconcile suppliers’ statements by requesting outstanding invoices from suppliers.
- To ensure invoices are raised in a timely manner, and to work with the schools to follow up payments, if necessary.
- To enter requisitions for the various teams, including the schools in their admin team’s absence.
- To be responsible for online procurement, processing credit card purchases, vetting and entering new suppliers on the system
- To ensure efficient processing of supplier invoices, including appropriate authorisation, accurate coding, and timely payment by BACS
- To undertake financial functions including order and non-order invoice posting
- To assist the Senior Finance Officer in their responsibility for banking and income posting.
- To be responsible for the sales ledger processing, undertake charging, sales invoicing and credit control in line with the school’s sales ledger systems.
- To be responsible for efficient procurement system within the Trust and be responsible for maintaining and reviewing outstanding orders monthly.
Asset Control
- Assist the Finance Manager in ensuring that accurate records are kept of all MAT and individual schools’ assets on asset management system.
- Assist the Finance Manager in ensuring that appropriate policies and procedures for the procurement, depreciation and disposal of all MAT and individual schools’ assets are in place and kept up to date.
General financial duties
- To liaise with external suppliers and customers.
- To assist in the payment of monthly staff expense claims via BACS
- To support the Finance Manager with projects, and on financial and accounting matters tasks when required
- Other responsibilities commensurate with the post.
- To Safeguard and protect children in accordance with the Bridge MAT’S Policies and Procedures at all times.
- To maintain confidentiality of information; it will be necessary to comply with all requirements related to the Data Protection Act/ General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Experience, Skills and Abilities
Essential
- At least 2-3 years’ experience working in a finance role.
- AAT qualification or equivalent
- Experience working with accounting software.
- A high level of IT skills is required.
- A very high level of literacy and accuracy is required.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Discretion and an ability to work confidentially.
- A self-starter, resilience with an ability to work independently and on your own intiative.
- Accuracy and attention to detail – this is vital for compliance.
- Good time-management skills, including working to deadlines, priority setting, multi-tasking and problem solving.
- Ability to motivate and influence, if necessary, in the face of adversity.
- Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively as part of a team.
Desirable
- Background and experience in education sector.
Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge of financial legislation and regulations
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel in particular)
