An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our Financial Services Team at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust as the Finance Manager - Financial Accounting, to support and where necessary deputise for the Head of Financial Services in managing the provision of a secure and comprehensive Financial Accounting Service, to underpin the quality of financial information produced and the protection of the Trust’s assets.
We are currently developing the team and have two posts available, one additional and one due to internal movement. We have had a number of recent changes to our wider Finance Team and are on a journey to develop the services we provide to our stakeholders moving to a more proactive approach which will also include supporting the wider Finance Teams One NHS Finance accreditation submissions. One role will support accounts payable, accounts receivable and treasury management whilst the other role will support capital, continued IFRS 16 development and charitable funds services. Both roles will be involved in monthly reporting, internally and externally and supporting the annual accounts process and work with both internal and external audit teams.
To manage and develop finance staff on a day to day basis, to ensure that the financial services teams are providing efficient, high quality and customer focused functions.

We are seeking to appoint to the key role of a Finance Manager - Financial Accounting, working as a key part of the Financial Services team. The postholder will play a key role in supporting the provision of effective, high quality financial services to include financial reporting, Treasury and cash management, Accounts payable and receivable and overseeing the operation of the Trusts patients’ monies system.
You will be technically assured with excellent communication skills and will have financial accounting and management experience.
The role requires a financial professional with technical, analytical and interpersonal skills. A key element to the role will be to promote the highest standards of services within the finance function to ensure compliance with external standards and support to clinical divisions.
You should be CCAB or CGMA passed finalist with evidence of continuing professional development

Statutory Accounts, Returns and Reports
Contribute to the accurate and timely production of annual accounts to meet statutory requirements, supported by high quality working papers.
Key Financial Controls
Ensure all Bank and control accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis with timely accurate resolution of any queries arising.
Regular review of both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable subledgers to ensure compliance with the Better Payments Practice Code and the Trusts Debt Recovery procedure.
Policy
Assist in the development of new initiatives and policies for the finance department and provides expert advice on the impact upon the Trust, thus providing expert specialist advice on financial matters.
Direct the development, implementation and monitoring of compliance with Trust financial policy within financial services, so ensuring that best practice is disseminated.
Line Management
Direct, lead and motivate the finance staff reporting to the post holder. Recruit and train new members of staff where appropriate. Appraise staff through the PAD process to identify their training and development needs in order to maximise their potential and the contribution they make to the organisation.
Systems & Performance Improvement
Actively participates in improving systems or structures within financial services. Developing changes to improve working practices and monitoring their success.
Relationship Management
Seek out and develop relationships with key professional contacts – to represent the Directorate’s and Trust’s interests and to facilitate the exchange of information and the provision of informed financial advice.
Financial Reporting
To ensure the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports for the Directorate. To review, interpret and present accounts and reports, ensuring that work meets best practice standards and is used appropriately to support proposals and recommendations for decision-making.
Ad hoc
Collective responsibility for leading on current departmental issues which may change over time.
Represent the Financial Services Manager as required.

To demonstrate continuing professional development, through development of knowledge, skills and keeping up to date with professional practice.
