THE ROLE

You’ll be reporting directly to director/owner level and you’ll be an integral part of the company's management structure. For the right candidate this opening offers real opportunities to drive the day to day management of the company and to influence its decision making processes.

We need a competent financial manager or company accountant that is ambitious and prepared to grow with our business. Your responsibilities will be to run the full finance function and management reporting as well as various office management tasks. Increasing profits and controlling costs, you will be able to provide financial insight and analysis to drive the business performance and strategy.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts, making recommendations and informing company strategy
  • Cash Flow forecasting
  • Develop and implement budgets, forecasting and monitoring performance
  • Client contract management, all client invoicing / sales ledger and credit control
  • Liaise with design team to ensure all deliverables are charged
  • Quarterly VAT returns
  • Manage wholly owned US subsidiary, liaising with accountancy practice based in NY
  • Day to day transactions (general bookkeeping including sourcing supporting documents)
  • Bank and control account reconciliations across multiple currencies
  • Purchase ledger, general creditor maintenance and payment runs, ensuring cost control
  • Office management, including office purchasing and management of software supplier accounts
  • Eventually responsible for recruiting and managing junior financial and admin staff
  • Ad hoc administrative duties as required

WHO YOU ARE

  • You are a good all-rounder with excellent organisation and analytical skills that is happy to manage the small amount of day to day transactions as well as more complex tasks.
  • You must be able to work and communicate effectively with non-finance based colleagues providing clear advice and recommendations.
  • An ability to work independently as well as a good team player.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage a busy workload. The role is very hands-on and it is essential that you are able to plan and structure your own work to hit internal and HMRC deadlines.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • A formal accountancy qualification is preferable but we will also consider applicants part qualified or qualified by (relevant) experience.
  • Experience of cloud accounting software or QuickBooks preferable.
  • Knowledge of Fx issues and experience of working across multiple currencies an advantage.
  • Experience of scaling a business and expanding into international markets would be a plus.
  • You are comfortable operating in a business with a fast-paced, start-up mindset.
