What you'll be doing

VenueScanner is seeking a talented Finance Manager to oversee all aspects of finance, legal, and compliance. You will manage VenueScanner's financial operations, in addition to handling business data, reporting, legal, and compliance matters.


You will report to the CFO and work closely with the CEO to deliver business insights, performance metrics, and growth opportunities. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to our growth, and, as our first Finance Manager, you will have the chance to develop and evolve our finance function.


Responsibilities


Finance


  • Own monthly financial metrics, processes & business KPIs

  • Tight cashflow management - Ensure business is on runway plan

  • Own credit control process managing the accounts receivable exec

  • Manage accounts receivable including being hands on with chasing debt where required

  • Ownership of managing cancellations / refunds/ensuring payments operate on plan

  • Iteratively improving month-end close to make quicker/more accurate

  • Decentralisation of payments; management of Spendesk, payment run process

  • Manage budgets & spend for variable areas such as expenses

  • Managing international payments/new finance requirements in countries that we expand to

  • Ensure financially compliant [IR35]

  • Check VAT reviews (done by our accountant)

  • Lead R&D tax claims each year

  • Reducing admin burden on rest of business (e.g., through payments) allows others to deliver direct ROI


FP&A, BI & Analytics


  • Central point of truth on all the business numbers

  • Manage all business KPI reporting

  • Business partnering analytics for sales, marketing & success functions

  • Strong analysis & understanding of unit economics, LTV, growth opportunities, pulling the insights for strategic discussions with CEO and board

  • Generating insights and analysis via ad hoc requests from CEO / CFO / Leadership Team


Legal and Compliance

  • Maintain business documentation, contracts, processes

  • Coordinate with lawyers as required to address business risks

  • Oversee company contracts, ensuring financial soundness and legal compliance

  • Stay updated on relevant financial and data protection regulations

  • Assist in maintaining appropriate business insurance coverage

  • Support in managing legal and regulatory aspects of business operations

Qualifications and Experience


  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field

  • Proven experience as a Finance Manager or similar role, ideally within a start-up or fast-growing company

  • Experience with financial and management reporting, budgeting, and forecasting

  • Familiarity with financial regulations and standards

  • Ability to manage budgets, expenses, and payment processes

  • Strong knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting

  • Proven experience in managing financial processes, cashflow, and key financial metrics

  • Experience in credit control processes, accounts receivable management, and customer financial transactions

  • Familiarity with share options management and strategic financial reporting

  • Knowledge of international payments and financial requirements for expansion

  • Experience in legal and compliance management is a plus
