Are you an experienced finance professional looking for an exciting and varied role within a world-leading University?
The Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy is looking for a Finance Coordinator who will oversee the account/finance team and take responsibility for all areas of financial administration, supporting and enabling both daily operations and longer-term strategic aims with effective financial processes whilst ensuring University financial policies and procedures are followed. The Department is based on West Cambridge site (see https://www.msm.cam.ac.uk for further information).
The person appointed will be the first point of contact for all finance matters in the department.
Key responsibilities include:
¿ Leading, planning and management of the Departmental Accounts Office, ¿ Administering the accounts including AP, AR management and reporting, procurement, and studentships ¿ Leading the financial management of Small Research facilities ¿ Providing clear and accurate advice to staff on financial regulations and policy ¿ Working closely with the departmental research grant team to provide guidance and coordinate complex grant management and audits. ¿ Supporting the implementation of strategic financial initiatives
Educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally with an accounting qualification (AAT), you will have experience of leading an accounting/finance team, experience of providing financial advice to non-financial staff and familiarity with the current research funding environment. You have excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic, as well as the ability and motivation to learn new skills and keep abreast of new policy and regulatory changes. You should be able to work autonomously and will benefit from a network of Finance Managers/Coordinators across the School of Physical Sciences. An ability to interpret financial information and present it to both financial and non-financial contacts will be expected.
