The Trust is looking to appoint an exceptional Management Accountant / Finance Manager to join our existing central finance department. The successful candidate will support the Chief Finance Officer in the delivery of management accounting in a central finance function for the Trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Management of the Trust’s accounting system (Iris Financials previously PFS) as well as other related software, ensuring that all records are maintained accurately.
- Ensure the Academy’s Financial Handbooks is operated to by means of rigorous and robust controls.
- Liaison and reporting to a large number of budget holders, staff, suppliers, debtors, and other relevant internal and external contacts.
- Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems for budgeting, financial administration, and cash flow forecasting.
- Manage the process of monthly reconciliations to produce accurate financial reporting as required by the Chief Financial Officer
- Prepare reports and reconciliations for month end and the statutory audit at year end.
- Assist in the maintenance of payroll, teachers pensions and local government pensions.
- Oversee the completion of the VAT returns.
- Assist the Chief Financial Officer in preparing financial appraisals for projects.
- Assist in the maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register
- In conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer, lead on the development, implementation and maintenance of financial policies and procedures
- In conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer, complete all documents required by the DfE and ESFA and keep abreast of information via website and e-bulletins.
- Monitor income and expenditure in relation to the Trust’s and academy budgets, and produce monthly reports for the Chief Financial Officer, Principals, and relevant Governor committee.’
- Deputising for the Chief Financial Officer when required
- Working closely with the Chief Finance Officer to ensure the continuing financial stability of the Trust.
- Assisting, when needed, in processing of payroll and pensions.
- In conjunction with the Chief Finance Officer to ensure goods and services are processed in compliance with current and relevant procurement legislation, ensuring best value is achieved.
- Identifying and pursuing income generating activities.
- Driving forward change and initiatives which promote regularity, propriety, value for money and best standards.
- Keep abreast of changing financial legislation and statutory requirements
