Job description

At Serendipity we are are committed to supporting adults with mental health needs, facilitating recovery and rehabilitation, implementing outcome-focused care, person centred to the individual, exploring hobbies and interests for our residents, some of whom have been previously supported within a hospital environment.

We are looking to recruit an experienced Finance Manager to our team on a full time (40 hour) a week contract. This Finance Manager will be based in our offices in Porthcawl, overseeing the day to day running of the office, and managing a small team of staff.

The successful candidate should be qualified as or working towards becoming a qualified CIMA or ACCA accountant, have experience in Excel and modelling, creating statutory accounts and have the ability to delegate and manage to work of others. They should also have experience on AP and AR, producing budgets up to multi-millions and experience running annual audit.

The job role will include, but is not limited to :-

  • Producing meaningful monthly accounts, taking into account all processes such as Income/Expenditure cut-off.
  • Liaise with external accountants on year end processes.
  • Overseeing end-to-end finance operations, financial planning and analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, looking to make improvements to procedures and controls, as well as ad-hoc projects and requests as and when they come up.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of end-to-end accounting practices.
  • Prepare and post monthly accruals, prepayments and similar accounting entries.
  • Budgeting and forecasting.
  • Leading the analysis of monthly and quarterly numbers and presenting findings to the Directors.
  • Managing an end-to-end audit process of current systems – while acting as the first point of contact for external auditors.
  • Leading the team responsible for payroll, VAT and HMRC processes.
  • Overseeing the day to day running of the office, managing a small team of staff.
  • Designing and implementing the office policy by establishing the standards and procedures; measure results against standards; making any necessary adjustments.
  • Contributing to and leading the team effort.

We would be looking to offer the successful candidate a salary of £28,000 to £35,000 a year based on experience.
