About the role
The Department of Social Policy and Intervention has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join our busy professional services team. You will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day management of the department’s financial functions, including ensuring all activities adhere to the University’s financial and personnel regulations and statutory legislation as appropriate. You will lead a team of finance professionals and provide strategic and operational financial advice and support to the senior management team.
You will support the Head of Administration and Finance in the preparation of the annual budget, quarterly forecasts and in preparing regular management reports, as well as overseeing transaction processing and month-end validation procedures.
About You
You will be educated to degree level (or hold equivalent experience in a similar role) and / or hold an accounting qualification such as ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA. Experience with financial and research administration within a university environment is essential, along with experience in an accounting environment.
A strong team player with a flexible approach to work, you will have proven management experience along with the ability to lead and inspire others. You will have the ability to establish and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and experience of communicating complex financial information.
Strong IT skills are also essential, with a willingness to adapt to new systems. Experience of using the university-wide applied accounting and financial management software would also be an advantage.
