M&S International operates across 60 different territories with 470 stores and over 50 websites covering Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
The team is building on the momentum of a post-COVID world, with a number of transformation plans either in place or on the horizon, the ambition is to double the profit in the next 5 years.
The International Franchise business of M&S is circa 50% of the annual turnover of the total International business unit. You'll be business partnering the Head of International: Clothing & Home, the trading and planning Clothing & Home team and the Head of International: Food in supporting the strategic development and growth of the franchise business.
You will be supported by a Franchise Analyst, so a critical element of this role is to lead and harness their growth and development.
Key Accountabilities:- Building positive relationships and business partnering with the International leadership team to enable the delivery of the growth ambitions
- Analysis and forecasting of working capital and cash flow
- Offering financial and commercial insight into the strategic direction of International Franchise, providing advice and challenging the leadership team on matters beyond Finance
- Leading Finance support in negotiating new and existing commercial agreements
- Providing financial analysis and appraisal of strategic growth projects and investment decisions as well as subsequent tracking of delivery against agreed measures
- Taking overall responsibility of the Food and Clothing & Home Franchise P&Ls, coordinating preparation of monthly management accounts
- Responsibility for all forecasting cycles (monthly/yearly/3YP) across Franchise
- Preparing and presenting a monthly performance overview to International Franchise leadership Team, demonstrating an understanding of variances against key performance indicators and guiding discussion for deeper analysis
- Responsibility of key financials controls being met (monthly/pricing changes)
- Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA)
- Can build positive relationships across the multiple Teams (both Finance and non-Finance)
- Challenges and influences business partners, presents information in an articulated way
- Sound commercial Financial competence with a track record of guiding business partners through investment appraisals and providing decision support
- A self-starter, uses initiative and works independently within a wider Team framework
- Adapts and thrives in a changing environment, and works at pace
- Intermediate or advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
