The Europe Finance Team:
The Europe Finance team is based in London with some local finance admin support in the regional offices, and external tax and statutory reporting advisors in markets. The team supports management decision-making and provides financial and management accounting services to all the offices in the Europe region. The team is led by the Regional FD for Europe, who is based in London. The Europe Finance team serves as an integral part of the wider global finance team, reporting to the US-based Corporate Finance, with regular contact across regions including North America, MENA, and Asia. APCO Worldwide uses Maconomy for its ERP/accounting system as of July 2020 and is a major user of Microsoft business products.
The Role:
The Role is initially a 6 Month Internship with the potential to become permanent when the internship ends. The role reports to the Finance Manager with a dotted line to the Regional Financial Controller. Camarco is a newly acquired business for APCO and as such this is great opportunity to get experience helping with a business integration in a dynamic environment.
The Finance Assistant is responsible for supporting the Finance Manager of Camarco by raising the monthly retainer invoices, processing employee expenses (including flagging the ones that need to be rebilled to clients) and also helping with project invoicing and quarterly recharges of costs to clients. On top of this, there is the opportunity to get involved in the integration of the finance systems as we move from Sage 50 to Maconomy. This is really invaluable systems experience for any budding finance professional.
Main responsibilities:
- Collating and processing approved employee expenses and flagging items to be recharged to clients
- Responsible for raising the monthly retainer invoices, ensuring they are approved by partners and then ensuring they are sent to the client
- Helping the finance manager with the project invoicing with the view to stepping up and taking over some of the project invoicing.
- Raising the quarterly recharge invoices, passing the costs of certain subscriptions onto clients
- Ad hoc assistance with Maconomy migration including data completion and testing
- Post migration helping to ensure that the process including client and retainer invoices are still running successfully
- Helping with the Camarco month end by doing variance ad-hoc tasks, reviewing supplier invoices, helping with the bank reconciliation etc.
Requirements:
- Fluent in English
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships internally with all levels of staff including direct team, senior leadership, client facing staff etc.
- Attention to detail with a can-do attitude.
- MS Office, including Excel.
- Detailed and organised to allow for effective management of multiple stakeholders and projects
- Comfortable operating in a continuously changing environment
- Interest in a Finance career
