About the opportunity..
Poundland is recruiting for a Finance Controller on a fixed-term basis, initially for nine months. The Finance Controller will be responsible for assisting the business's financial operations and driving the ongoing implementation of Oracle Fusion.
The Finance Controller works closely with other departments to ensure that financial information is accurate, timely, and relevant.
The role is based at our Customer Support Centre (CSC) in Walsall, with the ability to work agile between 'home' and the CSC. This role will be full-time (Monday-Friday).
What will you be doing?
- Driving the ongoing implementation of Oracle Fusion accounting and reviewing internal processes, reporting and controls to optimise the efficient use of the accounting system
- Management of the monthly production of P&L, balance sheet and cash-flow for Poundland UK and ROI using Oracle Fusion accounting
- Management of a monthly P&L and Balance Sheet review process, including Balance sheet reconciliations that complete reconciliations to the required quality and timelines
- Maintaining/developing relationships with other areas of the business to ensure current business processes and new projects are correctly supported and accounted
- Completion of corporation tax packs for Poundland Limited and ROI branch
- Support and challenge the Commercial Finance team in the budgeting and planning process
- Driving a robust cost centre review process and implementation of a store P&L process alongside Commercial Finance
- Delivery of ad-hoc financial reporting as required
What will you need?
To succeed as a Finance Controller in Poundland, you must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent communication and leadership abilities. You should also deeply understand financial analysis, accounting principles, and financial management best practices. A degree in finance, accounting, or a related field and relevant retail finance or industry experience is preferred. Professional certifications such as ACCA or CIMA are required.
This role requires you to have experience using Oracle Fusion.
