Job Summary

The Finance Business Partner – Management will be based at our Luton site supporting all our business lines in this global functions role whilst reporting to the Financial Controller, the incumbent will have the flexibility to work from home for up to 1 day per week dependent on the needs of the business. The Finance Business Partner – Management will lead a finance team of 4 including 2 Finance Business Partners, a Credit Controller and an Accounts Payable Assistant whilst working closely with staff at all levels within the business and providing first line support to the Financial Controller and the wider business. The incumbent will perform programme financial accounting, transaction processing and provide analysis, insight and control to the global business line finance functions across actuals, forecast and budget ensuring the balance sheet and cash positions for the programmes are carefully managed, controlled, reconciled and communicated in line with expectations. The Finance Business Partner – Management will also drive on site programme performance through the provision of robust financial information and by holding owners accountable for improving it.

Established in 1993, GKN Aerospace in Luton is a world leader in commercial and military ice protection systems and transparencies. Offering a full range of capabilities; design, analysis, testing, certification and manufacture of electro-thermal ice protection, military fast jet canopies and flight deck windows to over 20 programmes including: Boeing 787, Dreamliner, Airbus A320, AgustaWestland, AW101, Eurofighter Typhoon and Lockheed, Martin F-22 Raptor. Our customers include Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, Bell Helicopters, Textron, BAE Systems, Pratt & Whitney, Leonardo. Our Luton site is home to 400+ employees and onsite facilities including onsite parking, canteen, vending machines and showers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial data to ensure Programme P&L and balance sheet positions are correctly reflected
  • Day to day people management including training, career development, absence management, performance management, PDP’s and recruitment
  • Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the company and prepare monthly and annual reports
  • Collate and input data into One Stream
  • Ensure team adherence to a 3 day month end
  • Cash flow reporting on a periodic basis including forecasts and commentary on variances
  • Support Programme Management with monthly results
  • Prepare and post monthly accruals, prepayments and approve team journals
  • Support balance sheet reviews
  • Support managing financial risks and opportunities including contract performance and variances to business cases
  • Perform annual cost roll up and year end processes in SAP
  • Ensure that balance sheet positions are reconciled, understood and aged or judgmental items are actioned
  • Prepare annual budgets & quarterly forecasts
  • Annual tax pack analysis for group
  • Support internal and external financial audits
  • Continually identify risks to delivery, propose solutions and effectively manage stakeholder expectations
  • Drive the continuous improvement of end-to-end accounting practices
  • Support deployment of Lean including on-site training courses and implementing improvements

Essential:

  • ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualification
  • Extensive experience gained from a finance role including technical accounting
  • Experience of line management
  • Experience of month end reporting
  • Experience of managing budgets
  • Experience of financial controls
  • Advanced competency with Microsoft Excel


Desirable:

  • Experience gained from a manufacturing environment
  • SAP FI/CO experience
  • Experience of product costing
