Howett Thorpe are delighted to be working alongside an established art organisation in the heart of Basingstoke as they recruit for a Senior Finance Officer to join their existing Finance team on a part-time basis.

Senior Finance Officer – About the Role

Working alongside the existing finance team of 4 and reporting directly into the organisation’s Senior Accountant, the successful candidate will have exposure across a wide range of functions and responsibilities. This position would suit a candidate with either a QBE or part qualified candidate who ideally has knowledge of charity accounts, payroll and management account preparation.

The main accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Reconciliation and Calculation of Accruals and Prepayments
  • Assist the Finance Manager with BACS runs
  • Posting Journals
  • Preparing the PRS and PPL reports
  • Assist with quarterly VAT returns
  • Assist with preparing financial reports for budget holders alongside the Senior Accountant
  • Report the show and event balances jointly with the Finance Manager
  • Reconciling incoming direct debits
  • Provide cover for the Finance and Payroll officer when required
  • Deputise for the Senior Accountant as required
  • Undertake ad hoc duties when required

The successful Senior Finance Officer should have:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Proficient IT skills including MS Office.
  • Experience working within a fast-moving environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in forecasting, budgeting, reporting and planning
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work either independently or within a team
  • QBE or Actively Studying CIMA, ACCA or AAT
  • Excellent attention to detail
