Job description

A not-for-profit organisation, based in Cambridge, seeking a highly motivated individual to join their finance team in order to contribute to the smooth running of their finance department.

As a Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for the purchase and sales ledgers, as well as assisting with month-end activities and handling basic accounting tasks. In addition, you will be part of a fun and hardworking team that encourages personal development and offers support in obtaining an AAT qualification.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Post supplier invoices
  • Prepare supplier payment runs and one-off payments
  • Complete card purchases on behalf of employees
  • Import monthly employee expenses into Sage 200
  • Raise sales invoices
  • Enter bank transactions and reconcile accounts
  • Complete month-end trade debtors' and trade creditors' reconciliations
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the Financial Controller as required

Other Responsibilities
  • Comply with the Allia Ltd Financial Procedures
  • Take part in training and development as required
  • Maintain professional working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Proactively communicate any issues or findings
  • Skills and Qualifications Required

Essential
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks as well as work within a team
  • Highly numerate with good attention to detail
  • Experience using accounting software
  • Competent in the use of Excel and other Microsoft packages such as Word, Outlook
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Problem-solving abilities and initiative

Desirable
  • Competent in the use of Sage 200
  • AAT full or part qualified (desirable but not essential)
