Job description

We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to support a busy finance team, specifically focused on accounts payable and payroll.

  • £26,000 - £28,000 per annum dependant on experience
  • Hybrid model: 2 to 3 days office based (London)
  • Full Time or Part time (4 days minimum)

About the Role

The role involves; processing of supplier invoices, expenses and credit cards and creation of weekly payment runs from an Accounts Payable side, as well as creation and maintenance of employee payroll records, and the input of monthly payroll data on Sage 50 Payroll.

Purchase Ledger Assistant tasks:

  • Input all supplier invoices received into Sage 200
  • Check supplier invoices are coded correctly
  • Ensure VAT is correctly accounted for and claimed back only where appropriate
  • Processing and checking staff expenses and credit card expenses
  • Preparing a weekly payment run to be paid from domestic and international bank accounts
  • Maintain all supplier accounts and ensure they are fully reconciled
  • Review systems and processes used within the purchase ledger
  • Respond to any emails into the finance mailbox
  • Process bank postings in to Sage 200 on multiple accounts daily
  • Monthly bank reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner
  • Monthly reconciliation of Accounts Payable

Payroll tasks:

  • Input all payroll data for permanent and fixed tern staff – employee numbers c.20-25 varying each month
  • Issuing online payslips, P45’s, P46’s P60’s, P11Ds
  • Processing of new starters/leavers on a monthly basis
  • Preparation and assisting with the company pension scheme via Sage 50 Payroll
  • Applying and managing ad-hoc payments and/or deductions such as childcare vouchers/bonuses/sickness pay etc
  • Raising net payments to staff online via Coutts portal
  • Other ad-hoc duties related to payroll as required
  • Process the monthly payroll journal as provided by the Finance Manager

What you’ll need;

  • Experience working in accounts payable with exposure to payroll duties
  • Good understating of basic double entry book-keeping for preparing and posting journals in Sage 200
  • Strong Excel skills, Outlook, Word and other IT platforms such as online banking
  • Ability to multi-task, particularly at busy periods such as month end
  • Accounting qualifications are an advantage but not essential for the role
  • Knowledge of Sage is desirable but not essential
  • Experience in the TV, film & entertainment industry is desired but not essential
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

What to expect from our process

Initially we will ask each short-listed candidate to take a short (30 minutes) aptitude and technical accounting test.

Each short-listed candidate will then be initially interviewed by our Finance Manager, to whom they will report if successful in the process. Final interviews will carried out by both our CFO and the Finance Manager.

Job Types: Permanent, Part-time, Full-time
Part-time hours: 30-37.5 per week

Salary: £26,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
