We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated Finance Assistant to join our finance team at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology. You will support the Finance Manager to deliver excellent financial administration, managing the day-to-day studentship and general ledger activities in accordance with University policies and external funder guidelines.
You will have a range of responsibilities including, running and distributing general ledger budget reports on a monthly basis, supporting scientific facilities to achieve excellent financial hygiene, preparing the monthly stock valuation and ensuring all financial transactions are carried out in accordance with University policy and external funder regulations. You will also work closely with the HR team by supporting the casual worker payment process and other discrete HR projects. So this is an ideal opportunity for someone that wants to develop professionally in areas beyond finance.
You should be educated to A-level or have equivalent experience. You should be able to work independently as well as part of a team, be pro-active and well organised. You should have strong organisational skills to manage and prioritise your workload to meet strict deadlines You will have excellent IT skills using Microsoft Office. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact equally effectively with senior academic staff, researchers and support staff are essential. Experience of working in a higher education and knowledge of Oracle financials would be an advantage.
