Finance Assistant

We work with local authorities, developers, house builders and property owners to reduce costs, energy consumption and carbon emissions through innovative design and proactive intelligence led system operations and optimisation.
With the decarbonisation of our heating systems now becoming a national imperative we are experiencing rapid growth in demand for the design, build, operation, and maintenance of low carbon district heating systems and for the decarbonization of existing building heating systems, especially to replace distributed fossil fuel heating with centralised low carbon heat generation.

Role
Your lead responsibility will be to provide finance expertise to help grow the Pinnacle Power Business, working closely with and supported by the wider Pinnacle Power team. We are looking for a passionate individual keen on helping grow the business, driving efficiency and making the finances a more integrated and accessible part of the business.
The primary function will be to lead on accounts payable whilst supporting with payroll, project analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, audit support, accounting treatment, cashflow forecasts and other financial admin.

Specific Tasks
Taking responsibility within the finance team, the role will include:
- Purchase-to-pay
- Liaising with procurement manager to improve systems & processes
- Supplier set up
- Purchase order management
- Posting invoices
- Purchase ledger management
- Arranging invoice approval
- Collating payment runs and loading them into the bank
- Payments forecasting
- Payroll support:
- Keeping on top of and managing monthly changes to payroll
- Preparing monthly payroll report for internal approval then liaising with payroll bureau to action it
- Double checking payroll files received from bureau and uploading files into Barclays for payment each month
- Handle & resolve any payroll related queries
- Identifying methods of making payroll processing more efficient and recommending changes
- Payments processing in Barclays, conducting bank reconciliations for all bank accounts.
- Helping with balance sheet reconciliations, and month end accruals
- Support with VAT and CIS submissions on monthly basis
- Audit support
- Potential to get involved in Managed Services, where we manage energy assets on behalf of third parties.
Candidate
We are looking for someone who is organised, self-motivated, able to quickly analyse issues and run with processes. The company is forecast to grow quickly, so we expect the candidate to be able to work as part of a team and take ownership and fulfil their tasks on time.
The candidate will need to be comfortable communicating with team members, clients and suppliers. They will be personable and a good communicator.

Knowledge and Qualifications
- AAT Level 3 desirable
- Previous practical experience working in a finance team and working accounting knowledge
- Experience working with payroll
- Experience of achieving deadlines and working towards KPIs
- Experience showing initiative and making decisions in dynamic and fast paced environment
- Understanding of CIS and VAT reverse charge preferable
Skills
- Fully IT proficient; Word, PowerPoint, Excel, email systems etc as a minimum.
- Able to work as a member of a team.
- Excellent communication and presentations skills, written and in meetings.
- Good organisational, time management and planning.
