Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Finance Assistant ideally with housing, infrastructure, or real estate background. The role requires a reliable, confident, and pro-active person, who also understands the importance of confidentiality and discretion.
The finance assistant will primarily be responsible for day-to-day tasks related to the Accounts Payable function, accurate postings to the general ledger, completion of bank and balance sheet reconciliation and preparation of month end accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the timely and accurate entry of invoices, ensuring correct treatment of VAT.
- Preparation of weekly supplier payment runs.
- Manage the books of account for several entities and the preparation of month end accounts.
- Ensure the ongoing completion of bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Review and process staff reimbursement claims.
- Assist in budget preparation and all related monthly management reporting.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of statutory accounts.
- Assist in the transition to a new accounting software system.
- Assist in the preparation of information for investors and banks.
- Assist in the preparation of information required for Board meetings.
- Assist in the preparation of VAT returns.
- Assist with regulatory filings with the Regulator of Social Housing and Homes England
- Work closely with other finance functions, risk and compliance, and operations team to ensure delivery of organisational objectives
- Ensure adherence to financial laws and guidelines
Requirements:
Capabilities and experience
The candidate will have:
Part qualified with ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
- Experience of month end reporting and a proven ability to operate to tight deadlines
- Experience of preparing financial reports
- Accounts Payable experience
- Good understanding of accounting concepts
- Property experience whilst not essential would be highly relevant
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated strong self-motivation, ability to liaise with various stakeholders and ability to work under pressure
- Demonstrated the ability to work in a team environment, strong consensus building, verbal and written communication skills, and strategic planning capabilities
