CNWL provides mental and community health services across London, Milton Keynes, Surrey and beyond. Plus a variety of specialist services including addictions, prison health and sexual health. The finance department offers a range of opportunities to partner and advise these services as they meet their operational challenges.
We are looking to appoint a self-motivated, enthusiastic Finance Assistant to work within the finance team that supports services within the Diggory Division of CNWL.
The role will be based at either our Milton Keynes head office or our trust head office at 350 Euston Road, London based on preference.
The role will support the provision of high quality financial management information and provide financial support to senior managers and all budget managers within Diggory Division.
The post holder will be the first point of contact for finance related queries and will proactively work with budget holders to resolve any queries they may have with regard to financial processes, transactions and reporting and as a result will provide high standards of customer service.
The role requires a good level of communication and problem solving skills in order to meet the varying demands of budget holders and other Finance staff. The individual will therefore need to be able to work as part of a team but also on a one to one basis to resolve issues with budget managers.
The scope of the role is to ensure that the job holder acquires good solid knowledge across the Finance function so as to assist them in their future studies and career progression.
In addition to assisting in a continuous improvement culture, pro-actively identifying areas to improve efficiency and reduce risk.

Key aspects of the role include:
Financial Management:
One of the principle duties of the role will be to assist the team in providing accurate financial information to budget holders in line with the organisation’s deadlines.
Regular tasks and duties would include:
- Support the Management Accounts Team with month end reporting in line with the Trust’s management accounting procedures, reporting to tight deadlines.
- Completion and reconciliation of staff establishment and updating relevant Recruitment Trackers with changes in budgeted establishment.
- To keep accurate and orderly documentation to support financial transactions such as journals, budget adjustments and invoice requests.
- To raise all invoice requests relating to Diggory Division and liaise with Finance, if and when required.
- To be responsible for all invoice queries for Diggory Division to ensure suppliers are paid promptly, liaising with, and providing advice to, budget holders and Finance team.
- To review monthly cost centre statements, investigate and report significant budgetary variances to the Management Accountant.
- To support the preparation of regular and ad hoc financial statements and variance analysis.
- To support the preparation and costing of future year budgets.
- To liaise with and assist other staff within the Finance team to support the team in meeting corporate, statutory and performance monitoring requirements.
