Based at our site in Gorton, Manchester, we manufacture frozen products for Iceland stores. This is a great opportunity for a Finance Apprentice to join our Finance team at an exciting time of growth within Iceland’s food manufacturing site.

We’ve had to adapt to new ways of working to ensure we are protecting our teams in the current climate, but we’re busier than ever, growing our product range and want to ensure all our support functions across site are ready to proactively contribute to the site’s growth.

Role Details

Role: Finance Apprentice

Salary: £21,674 (dependent on experience)

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Core working hours between Monday to Friday, typically, 08:00 – 16:00

Contract: Permanent

Job Description

The Finance Apprentice role is an entry level role and the candidate will primarily be responsible for the purchase ledger account while also assisting with a variety of accounting tasks where required. The role will evolve over time and with experience.


The role will cover, but is not exclusive to, the following;

Purchase Ledger

  • Work with the Accounts Assistant to ensure all invoices are entered and are up to date on Microsoft Navision
  • Keep the invoices inbox clean and up-to-date
  • Keep an up-to-date log of any queries with invoices
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers
  • Supplier reconciliations and statement reviews
  • Purchase returns procedure

Sales Ledger

  • Support the Accounts Assistant with allocation of cash received to customer accounts

Other

  • Various ad hoc analyses as required
  • Assist other members of the finance team with any other duties as required
  • Holiday cover for finance team members

  • Ability to work alone and in a team
  • Team player with strong awareness of targets and objectives
  • Proactive
Strong Communication Skills
Good Microsoft skills (Excel)
  • Flexibility with working hours
  • Desire to progress within finance (study towards AAT qualification)
  • Attention to detail & numerical skills
