Location: London/Hybrid working
Salary Offered: for this role is up to £45,000 + £3.2k London Allowance

The opportunity:

The ZLS Finance team is looking for a passionate, highly motivated Finance Analyst to join our UK team. Reporting to our PPM Manager, you will be a key member of the team assisting in a wide range of financial planning and performance activities. You will build business partnerships across Finance and the wider ZLS team, which requires strong analytical rigour, the ability to consider the big picture and excellent communication skills.

You will be responsible for key parts of the team’s activity with respect to timely, accurate and efficient reporting of all financial performance deliverables. You will also assist in aspects of the portfolio life cycle: from onboarding into ZLS from other Zurich divisions, through the preparation of the portfolios to go to market and securing an efficient legal transfer transaction, at a commercially viable price.

You will have a strong working knowledge of accounting software and Excel. Ideally, you will also be familiar with Microsoft’s suite of “Power” Applications, as the team has big ambitions with respect to continuous improvement and automation of processes. What will you be doing?
  • Contribution to the timeliness and quality of all core Planning and Performance Management (PPM) deliverables for assigned portfolios and/or consolidation across ZLS, including profit and loss reporting with variance analysis, expense analysis, balance sheet and capital reporting
  • Support the production of high-quality financial analysis and insight on the business performance for assigned portfolios, both to internal ZLS stakeholders and to Group
  • Coordination across the ZLS Finance teams in London and New York and shared service teams utilised by ZLS across Zurich, in the preparation of financial and other reporting deliverables
  • Consolidation of the annual financial business plan for ZLS, working closely with the ZLS Finance team, Financial Controller, and the Group planning team
  • Production of key performance indicators used to measure the success of the business
  • Assist with IFRS17 reporting across ZLS portfolios contributing to the timely production of PPM deliverables for assigned portfolios/or consolidation across ZLS
  • Identification and implementation of process improvement opportunities to increase efficiencies for ZLS Finance and act as a catalyst to drive change and standardisation
The team has big ambitions to bring more efficient processes and new ways of working to life and is at the beginning of its journey through that. This is a key role which will be heavily involved in the design, implementation, and ongoing running of what gets rolled out
What are we looking for?
Qualifications:
  • Part Qualified Accountant / Studier
Experience and skills:
  • A minimum of one year’s Insurance experience is preferred, but not essential
  • Basic knowledge of applying IFRS and local statutory/regulatory standards and guidelines
  • Strong experience in Accounting software (SAP or equivalent) and Microsoft Office - particularly Excel -, and in the development and operation of financial models and reporting processes
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of “Power” Applications highly desirable
  • Inquisitive mind and a strong desire to jump in, get involved and contribute
  • Able to effectively set out and communicate information to stakeholders
  • Experience working with diverse/international teams preferred, but not essential
