We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as an Expense Accountant to join our Group Financial Planning & Analysis team.

The role
As our new Expense Accountant you will be supporting the Finance Business Partnering team who partner with senior stakeholders in an aligned business channel to drive strategic business decisions and the delivery of value generating opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation and posting of accounting adjustments (accrual and prepayment journals) including challenging/assessing appropriate back-up
- Preparation insightful and accurate analysis to stakeholders /challenge of accounting data
- Presenting financial MI to non-financial stakeholders
- Assist managers with ad hoc requests for information on their cost base
- Support the on-going delivery of robust, effective and efficient operational, finance processes and controls
- Identify, plan and implement process improvements.
- Liaise with auditors and answer audit queries. Ensure compliance with relevant procedures and processes and maintain evidence/audit trail as required
What are we looking for?
- Educated to part-qualified level (ACCA/CIMA/ICAEW or equivalent)
- Good level of accounting knowledge and experience
- Knowledge of financial systems and controls
- Excellent communications skills (written and verbal) and the ability to build close working relationships
- Ability to demonstrate analytical skills and good attention to detail
- Great experience with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint)
- Ability to produce quality output within demanding deadlines, whilst adapting to changing external requirements
- Good work ethic and ability to work in a fluid environment
- Experience in a change environment is desirable Experience of working in a Financial Services environment, in particular working with business related accounting systems, is desirable
